A beautiful suburban master-planned community, Carmel Valley sits in the northwestern corner of San Diego just east of Interstate 5 and Torrey Pines State Natural Preserve. In addition to being home to nearly 40,000 residents, Carmel Valley is composed of commercial offices, retail stores, and restaurants. Its proximity to several major Interstates and Highways allows commuters convenient access throughout San Diego. Known for outstanding education and rigorous academics, Carmel Valley features an overlay of several school districts.
 
The northern section belongs to the Solana Beach School District while the southern section belongs to Del Mar Union School District. The entire community is managed by San Dieguito Union School District for middle and high schools. One of the newer neighborhoods of the City of San Diego, the community was formed and built throughout the 70s and 80s.
